They called claiming that they were from a phone company offering a deal on my contract. This was clearly fake as they didn't know anything about my current contract (if they did, they would have called to discuss something else entirely). Some effort was put into the scam as they knew my name and occupation when they called. Best to hang up as soon as possible.

This contact number calls you, once you answer immediately puts the phone down. this is to check if the number is valid. Once they find out the number is valid they then pass it onto the call center to bombard you with scam calls.
